JamBase’s March Madness Live Covers Tournament has reached the Championship. Vote now on Phish‘s cover of Jimi Hendrix’s “If 6 Was 9” or Billy & The Kids with Billy Strings and James Casey covering Bob Dylan‘s “Tangled Up In Blue” and help select the 2022 champion!
The initial Round 1 matched head-to-head covers of the same song. Covers earning more votes moved on to Round 2 to battle against different songs. Round 3 saw the Elite 8 remaining competitors facing off for a bid in the Final Four.
The Final Four matchups pitted the aforementioned Phish cover of “If 6 Was 9” against ‘s cover Joni Mitchell‘s of “River.” The other battle was the previously mentioned guest-filled Billy & The Kids cover of “Tangled Up In Blue” that defeated Goose’s cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo.” Both Phish and Billy & The Kids won by wide margins.
As with previous rounds, vote for your favorite songs, favorite bands, favorite guest spots, pick a cover that’s most like the original or one that’s a wholly new arrangement … It’s up to you to decide the criteria for who should win. Championship voting is open between now and 11:59 p.m. PT on Sunday night (April 3).
