JamBase’s March Madness Live Covers Tournament has reached Round 3. The fan-voted competition is down to the Elite 8 of covers battling to be crowned this year’s champion.

Following last year’s format, Round 1 was head-to-head covers of the same song. The top vote-getter for each head-to-head competition went on to Round 2 to battle against a different song. Round 3 again pits different songs against each other to see who will reach the Final Four.

UM once again had a close one, edging out The String Cheese Incident with The Infamous Stringdusters by two percentage points. Umphrey’s McGee now faces Goose, who defeated Steve Earle & Aoife O’Donovan in Round 2.

The rest of the Round 2 matchups were more decisively won, with Jones falling to My Morning Jacket who will go on to face Phish in the Elite 8. Widespread Panic, Tedeschi Trucks Band, moe. and Billy & The Kids with Billy Strings and James Casey also advanced to Round 3.
