Luther Dickinson Joins Tedeschi Trucks Band For Allmans Brothers Band Cover

By Andy Kahn Jan 26, 2017 8:19 am PST

Wednesday night Tedeschi Trucks Band held a concert at Peabody Opera House in St. Louis shortly after news surfaced of the death of frontman Derek Trucks’ uncle, founding Allman Brothers band drummer Butch Trucks. TTB opened their show with an Allmans’ standard and welcomed North Mississippi Allstars guitarist Luther Dickinson to sit-in on another ABB favorite.

The emotional evening began with Trucks and his wife Susan Tedeschi leading their ensemble through the Allman Brothers staple “Statesboro Blues.” Later in the set, Luther Dickinson emerged to augment a lengthy take on the beloved Allmans instrumental “In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed.”

Last night’s set also saw drummer Cody Dickinson, also of the supporting North Mississippi Allstars, sit-in for a rendition of Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright.” Watch audience-shot video from last night’s concert in St. Louis below:
