The 2024 edition of the traveling Outlaw Music Festival kicked off on Friday at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre in Alpharetta, Georgia. Willie Nelson announced ahead of the tour’s start that the 91-year-old would sit out the first few shows of the tour while recovering from illness. Nelson’s son, Lukas Nelson, was tapped to perform in place of his father and was joined by Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks on opening night.
Lukas Nelson was accompanied during his set by The Family Band which typically backs his father in concert. His sets have consisted of a mix of songs associated with Willie Nelson alongside selections from Lukas’ solo catalog.
