Lucy Dacus brought her Forever Is A Feeling Tour to Edinburgh, Scotland on Monday for a concert at Usher Hall. The singer-songwriter honored a fan request by dusting off her cover of Bruce Springsteen's “Dancing In The Dark” as the penultimate song of the night.
Dacus originally released her version of “Dancing In The Dark” in 2019 as part of a series of holiday song singles. The take on the Born In The U.S.A. classic arrived in honor of both Bruce Springsteen’s birthday and the birthday of Lucy’s father.
“Happy birthday to Bruce,” said Dacus at the time, “but also happy birthday to my dad, the biggest Bruce fan I know and the reason I’ve listened to The Boss since birth. I resisted it when I was younger as a rebellion to my dad’s taste, but I have come to love his music on my own time. His lyricism is embedded in my own songwriting inextricably at this point.”

Lucy Dacus had been covering “Dancing In The Dark” live since 2015 as per Setlist.FM. While the 1984 single was played regularly by Dacus in 2021 and 2022, the song had since gone missing from Dacus’ setlists.
Dacus recognized a fan who had asked her to perform the Springsteen classic. “We learned this during soundcheck for you,” Lucy added. “We haven’t played this in ages, but it’s the best song I never wrote.”

Lucy Dacus served up a 21-song performance in Edinburgh. The setlist was loaded with 12 tunes from Dacus’ 2025 album, Forever Is A Feeling, five cuts off 2021’s Home Video and a few older numbers.
Dacus revealed “Partner In Crime” was written in Edinburgh before performing the Home Video gem. She also played the album’s “Cartwheel” by request and brought out support act Jasmine.4.t to duet on Forever Is A Feeling’s “Bullseye.” For her encore, Dacus performed “True Blue” from her time in boygenius, her first “Dancing In The Dark” since 2022 and the beloved “Night Shift.”
