Lucy Dacus continues a series of holiday song singles with her cover of Bruce Springsteen‘s “Dancing In The Dark.” Dacus released the rendition of the song from Springsteen’s 1984 album, Born In The U.S.A. in honor of The Boss’ birthday on September 23 as well as her father’s birthday.
“Happy birthday to Bruce,” said Dacus, “but also happy birthday to my dad, the biggest Bruce fan I know and the reason I’ve listened to The Boss since birth. I resisted it when I was younger as a rebellion to my dad’s taste, but I have come to love his music on my own time. His lyricism is embedded in my own songwriting inextricably at this point.”
Previous installments of the series have included “La Vie En Rose” for Valentine’s Day, “My Mother & I” for Mother’s Day and “Forever Half Mast” for Independence Day. More singles are expected in honor of Halloween, Christmas and New Year’s.
