Canadian-Sudanese artist/activist Mustafa and American-Palestinian model/activist Bella Hadid co-hosted the Artist For Aid benefit concert at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Saturday. The event raising funds for the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund and the Sudanese American Physicians Association saw a surprise appearance by Chappell Roan, who joined Lucy Dacus during the show.
Clairo, Omar Apollo, Raphael Saadiq, Shawn Mendes, Maggie Rogers and Cameron Winter of Geese were also among the artists on the Artist For Aid bill alongside co-host Pedro Pascal. Singer-songwriter Lucy Dacus delivered two songs during her portion of the concert.
Dacus began with “For Keeps” off her 2025 album, Forever Is A Feeling. Chappell Roan then joined Dacus for a cover of The Magnetic Fields‘ “The Book Of Love.” Watch the duet below:
Rather than lean into the negativity surrounding the terrible things taking place in Gaza, Sudan and right here in the United States, Artist For Aid focused on empathy and solutions to the challenges the world is facing.
“I always knew that an artist’s power did not come from their musical knowledge,” Mustafa said during the concert as per The Los Angeles Times. “I always knew that an artist’s power comes from the expansion of their empathy.”
Bella Hadid spoke on the generosity and compassion of the Palestinian people.
“You’re greeted with so many kinds of cookies and teas,” she said. “But also love, hugs, and compassion. Palestine is one of the most beautiful places in the world. My dad never taught me to hate anybody — it was always about love and understanding that everyone’s history is exactly what it was.”
Artist For Aid generated $5.4 million in support of the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund and the Sudanese American Physicians Association.
