Lotus announced details of their forthcoming 11th studio album, How To Dream In Color, which is set for release on July 11. The livetronica quartet previewed the 12-song collection by unveiling its lead single and opening track, “How Do I Come Down.”

How To Dream In Color marks the group’s first album since 2022's Bloom And Recede and the tragic death of percussionist Chuck Morris in 2023. Lotus — guitarist Tim Palmieri, drummer Mike Greenfield, bassist Jesse Miller and keyboardist/guitarist Luke Miller — recruited longtime collaborator Gabe Otto to contribute vocals to “How Do I Come Down” and “On The Block.” Other guests include vocalists Arthur Lewis and Rachel Eisenstat, the Creative Horns, Brothers Of Brass, violinist Jinty McTavish and John O’Halloran on talkbox.

Jesse Miller and brother Luke Miller wrote each of the 12 tracks and produced How To Dream In Color. “Each composition paints its own distinct universe, offering a beacon for fans old and new, inviting them to explore the vibrant and infinite realms of Lotus’ musical vision,” according to press materials heralding the new album.

“How Do I Come Down” is a musical dance party integrating Otto’s vocals in both a straight-forward fashion and utilizing samples of his voice. “This track is a manifesto for the entire album – a dream scenario where anything is possible yet flows like water,” explained Luke Miller. “The tonality moves between major and minor keys, akin to driving through a mountain highway, transitioning between light, dark, and the exhilarating unknown,” added bassist Jesse Miller.
