Lettuce reunited with two collaborators, guitarists Eric Krasno and John Scofield, over the course of their appearance at Suwannee Amp Jam #1 last weekend. Scofield joined Lettuce during the latter’s performance on March 7 while Krasno teamed with his former band for their full set on March 8.
While never a member of the band like Krasno, Lettuce has a long history with guitar great John Scofield, who guested on Lettuce’s 2002 debut album, Outta Here. Lettuce’s Adam Deitch provided drums on Scofield’s albums Überjam (2002) and Up All Night (2003). More recently, Lettuce — Deitch, Erick “Jesus” Coomes (bass), Adam “Shmeeans” Smirnoff (guitar), Ryan Zoidis (saxophone), Eric “Benny” Bloom (trumpet) and Nigel Hall (keyboards) — and Scofield also came together for a run of shows at the SF Jazz Center in 2019.

The Lettuce/Scofield team-up at Amp Jam began with a song off the aforementioned Überjam, “Jungle Fiction,” where the chemistry between Sco and Deitch was evident. The collab then delivered a cover of the 1971 The Dramatics single, “Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get,” which Scofield included on the Up All Night album. Lettuce and Scofield then offered “Back in Effect” from the former’s Outta Here record.
The collaboration came to a close with a cover of Prince’s “Musicology” and Lettuce’s “RVA Dance” off their 2022 LP, Unify. Watch video from Scofield’s sit-in with Lettuce below:
Lettuce’s Amp Jam performance on March 8 saw Eric Krasno sitting in with his former band for the entire set. Krasno was a co-founder of Lettuce as they formed around the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Boston. Krasno and Lettuce amicably parted ways around 2014 as the former’s other project ramped up. At Amp Jam, the collab fittingly opened with Outta Here’s “Reunion” following the intro to the band’s 2024 Live In Tokyo album.
The group also touched on Soulive’s catalog with “Break Out” and offered a Curtis Mayfield medley: “We’re a Winner” and “Move On Up.” Additionally, Lettuce and Krasno played “Chief” and “Elephant Walk” ahead of “Madison Square.” The set wrapped with “Sounds Like a Party.”
