Watch Lebo’s All-Star Yacht Rock Band ‘Ride Like The Wind’ Aboard Jam Cruise 20

Yacht Rock is so hot right now following the recent release of the Garret Price-directed HBO film Yacht Rock: A Dockumentary. ALO guitarist Lebo (Dan Lebowitz) has long been a fan of the genre and presented a pair of star-studded Yacht Rock sets on the past two installments of Jam Cruise. Official video featuring Lebo & Co.’s performance of the Christopher Cross classic “Ride Like The Wind” filmed on Leap Day aboard Jam Cruise 20 has been shared and can be viewed below.

Lyle Divinsky handled Christopher Cross’ vocals on the 1980 hit while Ivan Neville provided a stellar Michael McDonald impression and special guest Mike Dillon added vibes to the cover. Lebo ripped a guitar solo that would’ve made Cross proud towards the end of “Ride Like The Wind.”

Divinsky, Dillon and Neville were joined on “Ride Like The Wind” by the core band of Lebo, vocalists Shira Elias (Cool Cool Cool) and Sammi Garett (Cool Cool Cool), bassist Marc Friedman (The Slip, Ryan Montbleau Band), drummer Michelangelo Carubba (Cool Cool Cool), percussionist Yahuba Garcia-Torres (Remain In Light Band), vocalist/baritone saxophonist Josh Schwartz (Cool Cool Cool, The Horn Section), trumpeter Chris Brouwers, tenor saxophonist Greg Sanderson (Cool Cool Cool, The Horn Section) and keyboardist Chris Spies (Honey Island Swamp Band, Matador Soul Sounds). The New Mastersounds keyboardist Joe Tatton also sat-in on the Christopher Cross cover and other numbers played during the Yacht Rock set.

Ivan Neville had such a good time singing Michael McDonald’s part he told JamBase it was a highlight of his trip. Neville wasn’t originally supposed to perform “Ride Like The Wind,” but couldn’t resist when the ensemble rehearsed the song and needed someone to fill McDonald’s huge shoes.

Jam Cruise 21 departs Miami February 14, 2025 on the MSC Divinia with port stops in Cozumel, Mexico and Belize City, Belize before returning on February 19. Lebo is back with ALO with Ivan Neville slated to perform a Neville Jacobs set with Cris Jacobs. Other acts featured on the Jam Cruise 21 lineup include STS9, Snarky Puppy, Thievery Corporation, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong and more.
