Lake Street Dive Extends Gather Round Sounds Tour Into Fall & Shares Stunning ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’ Cover

Earlier this year Lake Street Dive embarked on the Gather Round Sounds Tour featuring “easy going, semi-acoustic evenings” concerts in which they dug deep in their catalog, debuted new material and welcomed special guests including Monica Martin with the stage set up to emulate a “relaxed, living room style setting.” Not only has Lake Street Dive announced a fall leg of the Gather Round Sounds Tour, they also unveiled a reimagined cover of Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling In Love” with Martin.

LSD and Monica Martin will spend three weeks on the road spanning October 24 through November 17. The Fall 2023 Gather Round Sounds tour dates focus on the Southeast and Midwest. Stops include Virginia Beach, Orlando, Louisville, Detroit, Kansas City, Dallas and 12 other cities.

“Can’t Help Falling In Love” was a staple of the first Gather Round Sounds Tour. Lake Street Dive and Monica Martin came up with a gorgeous take on the song Elvis Presley originally recorded for his 1961 album and film Blue Hawaii. “We sang this every night on tour at the top of their encore, and it was such a dream, we had to cut it to record!” Martin explained. The members of Lake Street Dive discussed the cover in a statement, writing:

“When we were preparing to tour together with Monica, we were dying to perform a song with her at the center. She brought in the idea of “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” so we worked up this arrangement on the road to fit the acoustic intimacy of the tour’s namesake— ‘Gather Round Sounds.’ The recording is done the same way; all six of us completely live in one room with no headphones. You can hear every little breath and the closeness of Monica, Rachael [Price], and Akie [Bermiss] singing together. What a joy to perform this timeless classic with the timeless Monica Martin!”
