Kitchen Dwellers wrapped their spring tour with a three-night stand at Livingston’s Pine Creek Lodge in their home state of Montana over the weekend. The Bozeman-born band welcomed members from fellow Montana bluegrass group The Lil Smokies for an extensive sit-in on Saturday including a Led Zeppelin classic and more.

KD kicked off the concert with “Covered Bridges” from their 2019 album, Muir Maid. The first set also saw a cover of Jimmy Buffett’s “A Pirate Looks at Forty.”

Toward the end of the first set, Kitchen Dwellers — banjo player Torrin Daniels, mandolinist Shawn Swain, guitarist Max Davies and bassist Joe Funk — welcomed Lil Smokies fiddler Jake Simpson for a cover of the 1972 Looking Glass hit, “Brandy (You’re A Fine Girl).” Lil Smokies’ dobro player Andy Dunnigan then got in on the action for KD favorite “Gypsy.” Dunnigan and Simpson stayed on for a pairing of “Whitewater” and “Trudy.”

The fiddle and dobro players then sat in for the entire second set, which got underway with Muir Maid’s title track. The collab then transitioned into “Unwind” off their new album, Seven Devils. Next came Led Zeppelin’s “Good Times Bad Times.”

“Good Times Bad Times” kicks off Led Zeppelin’s 1969 self-titled debut album and was also their debut single in the U.S. Daniels led the collab through the Zep favorite at Pine Creek Lodge with Davies channeling Jimmy Page on a blistering solo. Simpson and Dunnigan also swapped licks in a fiery exchange. Watch the collab on “Good Times Bad Times” below.
