The Killers Cover Tom Petty At Austin City Limits Music Festival

The first weekend of the 2017 Austin City Limits Music Festival wrapped yesterday with a performance by The Killers. The group treated the ACL audience to a pair of debut covers honoring Tom Petty.
The Killers opened their set with premiere rendition of the classic Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers hit “American Girl.” Frontman Brandon Flowers led the band through a career-spanning setlist that included “Run For Cover” from their recently issued No. 1 album Wonderful Wonderful and a cover of Joy Division’s “Shadowplay.” Later in the set The Killers offered their first performance of Petty & The Heartbreakers 1981 single “The Waiting.”
The Killers started their encore with the Wonderful Wonderful track “The Man,” followed by “Jenny Was a Friend of Mine” off Hot Fuss and “When You Were Young” from Sam’s Town. Watch audience-shot video captured by Fake Fan of the two Petty covers at ACL yesterday:
