Kenny Chesney Brings Out Kelsea Ballerini At 1st Las Vegas Sphere Show

Kenny Chesney kicked off his 15-show residency at the Las Vegas Sphere on Thursday. The country star welcomed collaborator Kelsea Ballerini for a trio of songs toward the end of the main set.

Kenny Chesney is the first country artist to play the Sphere and his devoted fanbase, dubbed No Shoes Nation, turned out for opening night. The ocean and beach life is a big part of No Shoes Nation culture and the opening visuals doubled down on seaside adventures.

Chesney took fans under the sea, through a shipwreck and on a romp with pirate ships to kick off his Sphere show visuals along with songs such as opener “Beer In Mexico,” “Keg In The Closet” and “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems,” which came ahead of live rarities “Welcome to the Fishbowl” and “One Lonely Island.”

Chesney nodded to Las Vegas locals and country legends including the Las Vegas Motor Speedway during “Living in Fast Forward” while “Big Star” boasted visuals of Chesney with Loretta Lynn and Reba McEntire as well as next gen stars Kelsea Ballerini and Megan Moroney.

Ballerini was there in real life and joined Chesney beginning with the former’s 1999 hit “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy.” The pair then delivered their 2021 No. 1 collaborative single “Half of My Hometown.” The guest spot came to a close with the Deana Carter-penned “You and Tequila.”

Chesney closed his main set with “Out Last Night.” The country star’s three song encore at the Sphere consisted of “American Kids,” “Anything but Mine” and finally, “Don’t Happen Twice.”
