Kamasi Washington Releases New Song ‘Sun Kissed Child’

The new track from the jazz saxophonist features vocalists Dwight Trible and Patrice Quinn along with drummer Ronald Bruner Jr.

Kamasi Washington released a new song, “Sun Kissed Child.” The track appears on Hollywood Records and The Undefeated’s Liberated EP, the third volume in their Music For The Movement series, which arrived today via streaming services in celebration of Juneteenth.

Liberated / Music For The Movement Vol. 3 is the latest in the acclaimed series of EPs from ESPN’s The Undefeated, a “content initiative exploring the intersection of sports, race and culture,” as per a press release, and Hollywood Records. The latest edition of Music For The Movement also features contributions from Cordae and Common, Lucky Daye, Chlöe Bailey and more.

Saxophonist Kamasi Washington’s eight-minute jazz opus, “Sun Kissed Child,” closes out Liberated / Music For The Movement Vol. 3. The track features vocalists Dwight Trible and Patrice Quinn along with drummer Ronald Bruner Jr., who is the older brother of Stephen Bruner, aka Thundercat.
