Josh Ritter will release his 10th studio album Fever Breaks on April 26 via Pytheas Recordings/Thirty Tigers. The singer-songwriter has shared the LP’s lead single “Old Black Magic.”
Jason Isbell produced the 10-track effort, which was recorded in Nashville at the historic RCA Studio A and features Ritter being backed by Isbell’s band the 400 Unit. Ritter shared the following with Rolling Stone about the album:
“The songs are very reflective of the times in which they were written. As we started coming together and playing, the songs that felt like they were gonna work really jumped out as obvious. From there on, after we recorded in August [2018] we had this really nice time to stop and listen and let the songs marinate a little bit. In that time, the world has just become even crazier. There’s a lot of the record that feels reflective of the moment it was in.”
In addition to the album reveal, Ritter has detailed a North American tour with his longtime backing band The Royal City Band. Tickets for the entire run go on sale on Friday, February 1 at 10 a.m. local time. Listen to “Old Black Magic” below:
