As reported, famed singer-songwriter John Prine will issue a new studio album entitled The Tree of Forgiveness via his Oh Boy Records label on April 13. The LP is Prine’s first record of new material in over 13 years. John Prine has just unveiled the latest single off the album, “Knockin’ On Your Screen Door.”
John Prine tapped Dave Cobb to produce The Tree of Forgiveness, which was recorded near his Nashville home at the historic RCA Studio A. Prine wrote the 10 new tunes on the LP, with co-writing credits going to Dan Auerbach, Pat McLaughlin, Roger Cook, Keith Sykes and Phil Spector. Contributors to The Tree Of Forgiveness included Cobb and members of Prine’s longtime backing band, as well as Jason Isbell, Amanda Shires and Brandi Carlile. “Knockin’ On Your Screen Door,” which opens the LP, was co-written by Prine and McLaughlin.
