Jimmy Buffett Honors Prince With Cover In Raleigh
By Scott Bernstein Apr 22, 2016 • 10:26 am PDT

In a display of just how widespread Prince’s influence is and how it defies all genres, Jimmy Buffett was among many musicians who paid tribute to The Purple One on Thursday following Prince’s tragic death. Buffett unveiled a cover of a Prince classic towards the end of his show at Raleigh’s Walnut Creek Amphitheatre last night.
Jimmy Buffett & The Coral Reefer Band performed Prince’s “Purple Rain” as part of their encore in Raleigh. Buffett and his band played the song as an image of The Purple One was displayed on a backdrop behind them. Guitarist Peter Mayer took a frenetic solo to bring the brief cover to its conclusion.
