Watch Tool’s Danny Carey Join Jerry Harrison & Adrian Belew’s Remain In Light Band For King Crimson Cover

Jerry Harrison and Adrian Belew‘s Remain In Light Band featuring Cool Cool Cool brought out Tool drummer Danny Carey for a guest appearance during their concert in Anaheim, California on December 29. Carey emerged towards the middle of the set at City National Grove of Anaheim to replace Michelangelo Carubba on a performance of the King Crimson classic “Thela Hun Ginjeet.”

Harrison and Belew, a founding and touring member of Talking Heads respectively, continue to bring their tribute to the legendary band’s landmark 1980 album, Remain In Light, on the road. In addition to Cool Cool Cool, the Remain In Light Band is rounded out by bassist Julie Slick and percussionist Yahuba Garcia-Torres. The stop in Anaheim was part of a four-night New Year’s Eve run in California. An appearance on Jam Cruise and summer tour are coming later this year.

Adrian Belew co-wrote “Thela Hun Ginjeet” with Bill Bruford, Robert Fripp and Tony Levin while he was a member of King Crimson. The song was featured on the famed progessive rock act’s 1981 album Discipline. “Thela Hun Ginjeet” has been a staple for the Remain In Light Band. Carey previously performed the King Crimson song with Primus at a benefit concert in April 2023.

Jerry Harrison and Adrian Belew’s show on December 29 consisted of five Remain In Light cuts, “Thela Hun Ginjeet,” an assortment of additional Talking Heads favorites and “Rev It Up” from Harrison’s 1988 solo LP, Casual Gods. “Thela Hun Ginjeet” featuring Carey on drums fell in the nine-slot.
