Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders on Jimmy Cliff’s ”The Harder They Come” is the latest preview of GarciaLive Volume 18: November 2nd, 1974 Keystone Berkeley. The previously uncirculated recording documents the famed collaborators Fall ’74 Bay Area team up and is set for release on June 10 via Round Records.

In April, the Jerry Garcia camp detailed the new live record, captured by renowned engineer Betty Cantor-Jackson and featuring guitarist Jerry Garcia, keyboardist Merl Saunders, bassist John Kahn, drummer Paul Humphrey and saxophonist Martin Fierro. The first preview of GarciaLive Volume 18 came in the form of Randy Newman’s “You Can Leave Your Hat On.”

The newly released “The Harder They Come” proceeded the Newman nod in the first set. A favorite of Jerry Garcia groups, the Jimmy Cliff classic stretched to nearly 16 minutes with extended solos from Jerry and Merl as well as a smokin’ sax run from Fierro.
