The latest installment of the GarciaLive archival series, GarciaLive Volume 12, features gutiarist Jerry Garcia and keyboardist Merl Saunders. Out today via Round Records and the Jerry Garcia Family, the release presents the pair’s concert on January 23, 1973 at San Francisco’s Boarding House.

Joining Garcia and Saunders that evening were bassist John Kahn, drummer Bill Vitt and vocalist Sarah Fulcher. The previously uncirculated performance was recorded by Betty Cantor and Rex Jackson. GarciaLive Volume 12 was culled from those original 16-track recordings and mixed by Jonathan Wilson and Dave Cerminara.

The show saw takes on Martha & The Vandellas’ “Honey Chile,” Ray Charles’ “Lonely Avenue” and “Georgia On My Mind,” The Band’s “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down,” Bob Dylan’s “It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry” and Smokey Robinson’s “I Second That Emotion,” among others.
