Dhani Harrison Joins Jeff Lynne’s ELO For Traveling Wilburys Tribute

Jeff Lynne’s ELO are currently on the home stretch of their farewell tour. Opener Dhani Harrison, the son of George Harrison, has teamed with the headliners to perform a pair of The Traveling Wilburys classics during each show of the brief run across the United Kingdom played thus far.

The final leg of Jeff Lynne’s ELO’s The Over And Out Tour began in Lynne’s hometown of Birmingham, England on July 5 and 6. Lynne continued the run last night (July 9) with the first of two consecutive shows in Manchester, England and says goodbye at London’s Hyde Park on Sunday, July 13.

Jeff Lynne hasn’t been playing guitar this run after breaking his hand while riding in a taxi in London. “I’ve had a guitar in my hand all my life but not tonight,” Lynne told the crowd on opening night in Birmingham. “I was riding in a taxi in London that slammed on its brakes to avoid an accident and I broke my hand.”

The legendary band’s founder, who has been touring under the Jeff Lynne’s ELO moniker since 2014, decided to proceed with the tour. “Nothing would keep me away from you,” Lynne added.

Each setlist for the first three dates has been loaded with ELO classics such as “Evil Woman,” “Showdown,” “Steppin’ Out,” “Sweet Talkin’ Woman,” “Telephone Line,” “Don’t Bring Me Down” and “Mr. Blue Sky.” Dhani Harrison emerged mid-set to stand in for his late father on The Traveling Wilburys’ “Handle With Care” and “End Of The Line.”
