Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit Play 5th Tom Petty Cover Last Night At The Ryman

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit hit the fifth night of their six show residency at the famed Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. As they have done at in the four shows prior, Isbell and his backing band once again used a portion of their encore to honor Tom Petty.
Last night’s show stuck to the same core set of songs, with a handful of alterations to the setlist. Saturday night’s show saw them dig a bit deeper into their songbook offering up a pair of tunes from their 2009 self-titled album with “Cigarettes & Wine” and “The Blue,” “New South Wales” from 2013’s Southeastern, “Palmetto Rose” and “Hudson Commodore” from 2015’s Something More Than Free, and “Chaos and Clothes” off of this year’s The Nashville Sound.
For their two song encore Isbell & Co. again paid their respects to the late-Tom Petty this time looking to Petty & The Heartbreakers sophomore effort You’re Gonna Get It! for a cover of “Listen To Her Heart.” The tune marked the fifth different Petty song Isbell & The 400 Unit have offered up during their run joining “American Girl,” “Refugee,” “Room At The Top” and “You Wreck Me.”
