Watch Lebo, Ivan Neville, Karl Denson & More Get ‘Lowdown’ At Yacht Rock Set Aboard Jam Cruise 19
The performance of the Boz Scaggs cover also featured members of Lettuce, Cool Cool Cool, Umphrey’s McGee and Neighbor.

A highlight of this past February’s Jam Cruise 19 was a all-star Yacht Rock set curated by ALO guitarist/vocalist Lebo (Dan Lebowitz). Jam Cruise organizers rolled out official video featuring a performance of Boz Scaggs‘ 1976 hit “Lowdown” led by Ivan Neville from the Yacht Rock set.
Boz Scaggs co-wrote “Lowdown” with keyboardist Toto co-founder David Paich before the band was formed. Paich’s future Toto bandmates, bassist David Hungate and drummer Jeff Porcaro, also took part in the recording sessions that yielded “Lowdown.” The song peaked at the three-slot on the Billboard Pop Singles chart and topped the Cash Box Top 100.

“Lowdown” was played in the middle of the Yacht Rock set aboard Jam Cruise 19 on February 11, 2023. Neville sang lead and was on keys alongside Lettuce‘s Nigel Hall and Joel Cummins of Umphrey’s McGee. Cool Cool Cool‘s The Horn Section contributed to the Boz Scaggs cover as did the band’s drummer Michelangelo Carubba and vocalist Sammi Garett. Neighbor bassist Dan Kelly held down the bottom end while percussionist Mike Dillon rounded out the ensemble.

Jam Cruise 20 sets sail from Miami on February 25, 2024 aboard the MSC Divinia. Lebo will once again host a Yacht Rock set during the musical adventure at sea.
