Jack White Brings Out The Strokes’ Nick Valensi In Los Angeles

Jack White welcomed two guests during the first of two nights at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on Monday. The Strokes’ guitarist Nick Valensi sat in on a pair of songs, including the live debut of “Bless Yourself.” White’s former drummer Daru Jones also emerged to perform “Lazaretto.”

Jones and hip-hop artist Prof were also on the bill Monday. Jones played drums on “Lazaretto,” the title track of White’s 2014 album Lazaretto, and toured with White in support of that record and 2012’s Blunderbuss.

The shows in L.A. are part of White’s tour supporting his latest album, Frozen Charlotte, which came out on his Third Man Records label in July.

Valensi was brought on for “Broken Boy Soldier” by White’s group The Raconteurs. He stayed onstage for “Bless Yourself,” a song from White’s previous album, No Name, which had not been performed live before Monday.

Shortly after performing with The Strokes at Coachella in April (where they met up with White), Valensi and the band announced the guitarist was taking a temporary break from touring. Guitarist Steve Schiltz has been filling in for Valensi on The Strokes’ current Reality Awaits The World Tour supporting their recently released studio album, Reality Awaits.

White returns to the Hollywood Palladium on Tuesday before heading to The Sound at the Del Mar Fairgrounds on Wednesday. See video and photo highlights White posted of last night’s show in L.A.:
