In Memoriam | Guitarist Benjamin Curtis 1978 – 2013

We’re sad to pass on the news that Secret Machines / School of Seven Bells guitarist Benjamin Curtis has died after a battle with cancer. Curtis had been fighting T-cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma, when he passed away on Sunday night in New York City at the way-too-young age of 35.

Curtis may be best known to our readers for his work with Secret Machines in the mid ’00s, before he left the group to form School of Seven Bells in 2007 with Alejandra Deheza. Benjamin was born in Oklahoma and moved to Dallas, where he was a big part of the local scene in the late ’90s and ’00s. School of Seven Bells released three full-length albums and a handful of EPs.
