How I Wrote That Song | My Morning Jacket – Compound Fracture

NBC’s Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon sure knows how to use modern media wisely. Not only do they quickly post bits, performances and guest appearances that often go viral on the show’s YouTube channel, but they also have a number of recurring features including “How I Wrote That Song.” The latest “How I Wrote That Song” video finds My Morning Jacket discussing “Compound Fracture.”

“Compound Fracture” is the second track off MMJ’s recently released The Waterfall LP. My Morning Jacket debuted a live version of the tune early this year at One Big Holiday in Mexico. In the video below at first Jim James and Co. play coy with the assignment at hand, but once they start digging in to the story of the song we learn the intricacies of how the track came together.
