Watch Harry Styles Perform Majestic ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ Cover With Jules Buckley Orchestra

Last night, Harry Styles played a special one-off show at London’s Royal Festival Hall as part of the Meltdown Festival. Styles was backed by the Jules Buckley Orchestra for a symphonic show that ended with a stunning cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water.”

Harry Styles curated the lineup for Southbank Centre’s 2026 Meltdown Festival, which continues through Sunday, June 21. Kamasi Washington, James Murphy, Yussef Dayes and Warpaint are among other acts on the eclectic bill Styles put together. Proceeds from the Meltdown Festival go to Southbank Centre’s charitable programs.

The former One Direction member took the stage at Royal Festival Hall on Tuesday amid his 12-show run at London’s massive Wembley Stadium. Harry Styles treated attendees to a much more intimate performance last night featuring orchestral versions of songs from his solo discography.

Styles began his collaboration with the Jules Buckley Orchestra by performing Harry’s House standout “Boyfriends.” The Brit then turned to his recently released album, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally., for “Paint By Numbers.” Harry’s fourth solo album was also represented in the setlist by “The Waiting Game,” “Coming Up Roses” and “Carla’s Song.” Jules Buckley previously arranged the strings for the studio version of “Coming Up Roses.”

The first surprise of the night was a performance of “Two Ghosts” from his self-titled 2017 debut solo album, which Styles hadn’t performed live since 2020. Harry went on to close the night with the wonderful take on “Bridge Over Troubled Water.”

Styles had explained before “Carla’s Song” that the track was inspired by the experience of watching his friend hear “Bridge Over Troubled Water” for the first time. “I think hearing songs like that is a reminder of this thing that is so much bigger than any one artist that you like. Any one song is this thing that every musician is kind of investing in, and just trying to add a little piece of themselves to. These things are around for so much longer than any of us,” Harry told the crowd.

Simon & Garfunkel originally released “Bridge Over Troubled Water” in 1970 as the title track of their fifth and final studio album. Styles put his heart and soul into singing the cover as strings swirled behind him. Harry nailed the high notes Art Garfunkel made famous, while accompanying himself and the orchestra on piano.
