Happy Birthday Marco Benevento | PhilRAD New Years

By Scott Bernstein Jul 22, 2015 10:15 am PDT

Keyboardist Marco Benevento was born in Livingston, New Jersey on this date in 1977. Benevento came onto the scene as part of the Benevento/Russo Duo with his elementary schoolmate and drummer Joe Russo in the early ’00s. He’s since embarked on an impressive solo career and more recently has worked his magic as a member of Grateful Dead tribute act Joe Russo’s Almost Dead which was born out of Led Zeppelin tribute band Bustle In Your Hedgerow.

One of the highlights of Joe Russo’s Almost Dead’s brief career thus far was a three-night New Year’s Run this past December at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York featuring the band joined by bassist Phil Lesh. The Grateful Dead bassist fit right in with Benevento, Russo and guitarists Scott Metzger and Tom Hamilton. Recently pro-shot footage of the run has surfaced on YouTube.
