Guitarist Joe Lawlor Guests With Dave Matthews Band On Tour Debut In Virginia Beach

By Scott Bernstein Jun 18, 2016 1:14 pm PDT

Virginia’s own Dave Matthews Band continued an extensive Summer Tour on Friday night at Veterans United Home Amphitheater in Virginia Beach. The band welcomed crew member and talented guitarist Joe Lawlor to sit-in with them on the year’s first version of an Under The Table & Dreaming classic as part of their main set last night.

Lawlor is a live recording engineer for DMB and is known by fans as “setlist guy” since he’s in charge of putting out the group’s pre-printed stage setlists. Joe first sat-in with Dave Matthews Band in 2006 and after last night has now performed with the band at 26 different shows. On Friday, Joe Lawlor joined DMB for the group’s tour debut of “Rhyme & Reason” a song he had sat-in on with his bosses 11 times prior. Friday’s show also featured renditions of all three originals the Dave Matthews Band debuted in Charlottesville last month as well as an encore of “All Along The Watchtower” and “Tripping Billies.”
