Greensky Bluegrass made their debut at The Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York City on Friday night as part of the venue’s Summer Concert Series. The band would welcome Joe Russo’s Almost Dead guitarist Scott Metzger at the end of the second set.
Greensky kicked off the first set with “Past My Prime,” “No Idea” and “Living Over” before getting into material from their 2019 album All For Money with “Like Reflections” and “What You Need.” Covers of Paul Simon’s “Gumboots” and Charlie Poole’s “White House Blues” followed before “Broken Highways” led into “It’s Not Mine Anymore” to close out the first set.

The second section got going with “For Sure, Uh Huh,” “All For Money” and “Old Barns” ahead of a “Broke Mountain Breakdown” that included GSBG’s first version of Jimi Hendrix’s “The Wind Cries Mary” of 2019 within. “Ashes” and “Hit Parade Of Love” came next before Greensky brought out Metzger for well-jammed takes on “I’d Probably Kill You” and “Don’t Lie” to bring the second set to a close.
Greensky came back out for an encore of “Just To Lie” into ’s “Big Shot,” paying tribute to New York’s native son for the first time in 2019.
