Greensky Bluegrass delivered night two of their three-night stand at Shagbark Farm in Caledonia, Michigan on Saturday. GSBG welcomed members of opening band Railroad Earth throughout the show.

Greensky got things underway with an opening segment of “Less Than Supper” and “Run Or Die.” Railroad Earth multi-instrumentalist Tim Carbone then joined in and reeled off some ethereal fiddle before guitarist Dave Bruzza led the band through his song “Bottle Dry.” Carbone then helped Greensky dust off “Hoxeyville.” The song was last played in early 2019 for a total of 123 shows, as per Phantasy Tour. GSBG’s Shagbark camping event was organized by the same team that puts on Michigan’s Hoxeyville Festival, which will take place in August. Carbone stayed on for “Lose My Way” before departing after which Greensky welcomed singer-songwriter Willy Tea Taylor on guitar for the GSBG debut of his song “Molly Rose.” The quintet then went it alone on “Demons” ahead of set closer “Leap Year.”

GSBG got the second set underway with “Past My Prime” ahead of “Fixin’ To Ruin,” the newer tune “Stress Dreams” (second time played), “The Radio Blues,” “What Happened to Jim?” and Newgrass Revival’s “Can’t Stop Now.” Carbone and his RRE bandmate John Skehan emerged for the Grateful Dead’s “Cassidy.” The collaborators got into a jam after running through the song which featured Skehan working his mandolin and Carbone also delivering a flying fiddle solo. Set closer “Don’t Lie” emerged from the “Cassidy” which saw Skehan and Paul Hoffman trading licks on mandolin.

But Greensky wasn’t done yet. The quintet would play a bonus late-night set in a pagoda in the campgrounds around a single mic. Carbone also joined back in on the fun for John Hartford’s “I’m Still Here,” Flatt & Scruggs’ “Down The Road” (last time played at Hoxeyville in 2018) and Bruce Springsteen’s “Atlantic City.” Additionally, the late-night set included a bust out of Jim & Jesse’s “Never Love Anybody But You” for the first time in 912 shows, as per Phantasy Tour.
