Greensky Bluegrass Play Grateful Dead’s ‘Cassidy’ With Andy Falco

On Saturday night Michigan jamgrass act Greensky Bluegrass brought their current tour to Brooklyn’s Music Hall Of Williamsburg for a performance in front of an enthusiastic crowd. The band mixed their earwormy originals with a batch of fun covers and even a few Phish teases and jams thrown in for good measure. Greensky was joined by old friend Andy Falco of Infamous Stringdusters on electric guitar for a rousing rendition of “Cassidy” that brought the first set to a close.
It isn’t too often Greensky collaborates with a musician on an electric instrument and while they’ve played “Cassidy” in the past it isn’t in heavy rotation. This all added up to a fantastic treat for the Big Apple faithful. “Cassidy” is a Grateful Dead song that features an open-ended jam that allows for bands covering the song to add their own imprint. Greensky Bluegrass and Andy Falco certainly added their signature to the Brooklyn version. Take a look at Sean Roche’s footage of the cover:
