This year’s Levitate Flannel Jam pulled into Portland, Maine’s Maine Craft Distilling on Sunday with a lineup topped by Greensky Bluegrass, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway and Midnight North. Greensky ended the second of the traveling festival’s three 2022 stops by jamming with Midnight North’s Elliott Peck and Grahame Lesh on the encore after Molly Tuttle sat-in during their main set.
The five-piece jamgrass act began last night’s headlining set with “Do It Alone” and “Like Reflections” off 2019’s All For Money split by staple “Living Over.” Greensky then delivered the beloved “Windshield” before Dave Bruzza dueted on with Molly Tuttle on the David Houston-penned gem from 1964 “I Told Them All About You.” Both musicians played guitar for the GSBG debut.
Bruzza’s bandmates returned and Tuttle vacated the stage as Greensky’s marathon frame continued on with “Worry For You” off the band’s recently released Stress Dreams LP. The Michigan-birthed quintet then offered up oldie “Kerosene” and the joyous “Fa Sho, Uh Huh.” GSBG then went back to Stress Dreams for “Reasons To Stay” and closed the set with a stretch that included “Blood Sucking F(r)iends,” “Broke Mountain Breakdown” and “Reverend.”
When Greensky Bluegrass returned for the encore they were joined by Elliott Peck and Grahame Lesh of Midnight North. GSBG’s Paul Hoffman led the now seven-piece collective on Norton Buffalo’s “Ain’t No Bread In The Breadbox.” Peck provided harmony vocals while Lesh played guitar on the evening’s finale. The Levitate Flannel Jam 2022 ends tonight at Cisco Brewers on Nantucket.
