Greensky Bluegrass took the stage at the Brooklyn Paramount in New York City on Thursday. GSBG welcomed banjo player Torrin Daniels of opening act Kitchen Dwellers for a David Grisman cover and more.

Kitchen Dwellers hopped on Greensky’s tour in Washington D.C. last weekend. The Montana-based bluegrass band went on to warm up for GSBG in Red Bank, New Jersey and last night in Brooklyn.

Torrin Daniels joined Greensky to help them wrap the first set on Thursday. Daniels added vocals and banjo to GSBG favorite “The Four.” The collab then jammed their way — including a spicy exchange between Torrin’s phase-soaked five-string and crunchy riffage from Anders Beck on dobro — into the David Grisman classic “E.M.D. (Eat My Dust).”

The appropriately titled number kicked things up a notch and featured solos all around from Beck, Daniels, mandolinist Paul Hoffman, guitarist Dave Bruzza and banjo player Michael Bont. Watch “The Four” and “E.M.D.” with Daniels below:

Greensky Bluegrass launched the concert with a pairing of “What You Need” and “Demons.” The first frame also included covers of The Stanley Brothers’ “Clinch Mountain Backstep” and traditional “Reuben’s Train,” the latter coming ahead of the set-closing sequence with Daniels.

The second set got underway with GSBG’s cover of Cris Jacobs’ “Bone Digger” followed by staples “Past My Prime” and “Room Without a Roof.” To close the second set, Greensky offered the 2025 debut of Jimmie Skinner’s “Doin’ My Time” with original “Leap Year.” The band returned for a fitting encore of Jimmy Martin’s “Drink Up and Go Home.”
