Another ‘Stress Dream’: Greensky Bluegrass Can’t ‘Get Out’ On New Single
The song was recorded during the sessions that yielded 2022’s Stress Dreams.
“Get Out” is one of two B-Sides from the quintet’s 2022 album, Stress Dreams. Greensky shared the other, “Congratulations & Condolences,” last month. Both songs were initially released as a 7-inch single on Record Store Day Black Friday on November 25, 2022.
“‘Get Out’ is anchored in internal reflection but also includes commentary on our society’s struggle to better itself,” explained GSBG mandolinist/singer Paul Hoffman. “Recognizing patterns in our behavior doesn’t always make them easy to correct.”
While the latest two Greensky Bluegrass singles were recorded in 2021, the band has plenty of new material in the works. GSBG entered Iceland’s Flóki Studios with keyboardist Holly Bowling before heading to Reykjavík for the recently completed Camp Greensky Iceland destination event. Four songs recorded by 6reensky were debuted over the course of their three shows in Iceland.
“It sure is fun playing these new songs for you folks because we just recorded them last week,” dobroist Anders Beck told the crowd after debuting “Distracted” at the Camp Greensky Iceland finale. “We might/probably won’t play them [again] for months because that’s what were supposed to do, so we hope you enjoyed them.” Anders then joked “we’ll be wiping your phones on the way out.”
Greensky filmed a video for “Get Out” at Reykjavík’s stunning Harpa Concert Hall, where Camp Greensky Iceland was held. Watch the visual shot and directed by Dylan Langille below:
“Get Out” was played on the second night of Camp Greensky Iceland. Bowling contributed to three of the 10 versions performed in concert thus far including the debut at Red Rocks and latest version in Iceland.
