Greensky Bluegrass Offers Their ‘Congratulations & Condolences’

Greensky Bluegrass shared a new single, “Congratulations & Condolences,” with an accompanying video featuring exclusive footage from the studio recorded on 8mm tape. The song is a B-Side from their 2022 studio album, Stress Dreams.

Greensky’s mandolinist Paul Hoffman co-wrote “Congratulations & Condolences” with singer-songwriter Joshua Davis who was onstage with GSBG when they debuted the song in June 2022 at their Camp Greensky Festival. Davis, who is a member of Steppin’ In It, was inspired to write the song by the birth of his son and the death of his father occurring within days of each other.

“I co-wrote this song with Joshua Davis,” Hoffman stated. “He is a dear friend and one of the greatest influences on my songwriting. He lost his father and received a son days apart and the timing of back-to-back congratulations and condolences provided some striking context to the complexity of life and friendship so we set out to make a tune.”

Greensky Bluegrass will perform at Rooster Walk Music & Arts Festival over Memorial Day Weekend ahead of a trip to Iceland to host the inaugural Camp Greensky Iceland. GSBG will then hit the road for their 2023 Summer Tour with support on select stops from The Wood Brothers, Amanda Shires, Neighbor, Big Something and Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway.
