Greensky Bluegrass delivered the third installment in their Leap Year Sessions series of livestreamed concerts from The Pageant In St. Louis on Friday. GSBG shared a preview video for the show featuring opening sequence, “Just To Lie” and “Train Junkie.”
The clip kicks off with Greensky banjo player Michael Bont discussing new instruments he’s learning and how that has helped his banjo playing as well as the difference between a livestream concert and one with an audience. Mandolinist Paul Hoffman then led the band through “Just To Lie,” which, after a solo from dobro player Anders Beck, descended into some dark jamming and emerged into “Train Junkie,” sung by guitarist Dave Bruzza.

The set continued with “Can’t Make Time” and the first cover of the evening, “The Stanley Brothers’ “How Mountain Girls Can Love.” Next up, GSBG got into material from their latest studio album, 2019’s All For Money, with “Do It Alone” and the title track. “Broken Highways,” the traditional “White House Blues” and “Merely Avoiding” followed ahead of the closing sequence of “Broke Mountain Breakdown,” The Rolling Stones’ “No Expectations” and “Broke Mountain Breakdown Reprise.”
