Greensky Bluegrass celebrated 20 years with an outdoor concert in Pisgah Forest, North Carolina on Saturday night. The band would unveil a bevy of new originals to cap off the evening.

Ben Pennigar kicked things off with some words about the band and would narrate the whole show, giving a history of the band — mandolin player Paul Hoffman, guitarist Dave Bruzza, banjo player Michael Bont, bassist Mike Devol and dobro player Anders Beck — to celebrate 20 years. Greensky Bluegrass also celebrated their history by playing all originals in chronological order. The music got underway with GSBG gathering around a single mic for “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” before single mic renditions of “Shady Grove” and their tune “Out & Under.” Greensky’s driving version of Prince’s “When Doves Cry” came next ahead of “Tuesday Letter” before the band got into some jamming on “Train Junkie” which headed into David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” before returning to “Train Junkie” ahead of the first frame closer, “All Four.”

Setbreak would see a happy anniversary video from GSBG collaborators Del McCoury, Jennifer Hartswick, Holly Bowling and Keller Williams. Greensky kicked off the second set with the “Bring Out Your Dead” suite followed by “In Control” which headed right into a fiery “Kerosene” with Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” in the middle before heading back into “Kerosene.” Greensky kept going with “Hold On” and segued right into Tears For Fears’ “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” ahead of the stellar tune “It’s Not Mine Anymore.” GSBG then closed out the set with “All For Money,” off their 2020 album of the same name.

GSBG remerged for an encore of all original debuts. “Rolling On” kicked things off followed by ‘Stress Dreams” and “Grow Together.” Listen to the show bellow via Z-Man:
