Grateful Dead Share ‘Ramble On Rose’ From New Box Set

The Grateful Dead will issue a new box set July 1978: The Complete Recordings featuring five complete shows across 12 CDs on May 13. Today, Uncut premiered a track from the box set, which is currently available for pre-order.

Taped by Betty Cantor-Jackson and marking the first release of the long-lost “Betty Boards,” Jeffrey Norman remastered Betty’s tapes for the July 1978: The Complete Recordings box set. Among the five recordings presented in their entirety are the Dead’s shows at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on July 1, St. Paul Civic Center in St. Paul on July 3, Omaha Civic Auditorium in Omaha on July 5 and their debut at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado on July 7 and 8.

The special box set is limited to 15,000 individually numbered copies and features original artwork by esteemed cartoonist Paul Pope (D.C. and Marvel comics) and in-depth liner notes written by Nick Meriwether (Grateful Dead Archives at the University of California, Santa Cruz), as well as a producer’s note from archivist David Lemieux. The collection will also be available for HD digital download in FLAC and ALAC via Dead.net on release day. A three-CD set containing the Dead’s July 8 Red Rocks performance is also due out May 13.
