Each November the Grateful Dead vault opens for the 30 Days Of Dead live audio series featuring a new previously unreleased track every day this month. The tracks are available as free high-quality MP3 downloads and for streaming via Dead.net.
Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux picks the songs for a tradition that dates back to 2010. At the end of the month, all 30 tracks will be culled into a ZIP file for easy downloading.
The cuts are populated on Dead.net each day sans date, city and venue. Deadheads can test their knowledge by entering the contest at the bottom of the 30 Days Of Dead page. Those who correctly determine the date, city and venue where the song was recorded will have a chance to win the daily prize of a 2023 Grateful Dead wall calendar or the grand prize. The 2022 30 Days Of Dead grand prize consists of the Dead’s Lyceum ’72: The Complete Recordings and In And Out Of The Garden: Madison Square Garden ’81, ’82, ’83 boxed sets.
Today’s song is “Passenger” accompanied by the hint, “A rare Phil-written song that was not sung by Phil, and was only in the repertoire for four years.” Stream the track below or head to Dead.net to download and/or enter the contest.
