Gov’t Mule Welcomes Ron Holloway On Sunday At Peach Music Festival

By Jeffrey Greenblatt Jul 23, 2018 9:32 am PDT

A night after throwing down a set of Pink Floyd covers, Gov’t Mule brought the 2018 edition of The Peach Music Festival to a close on Sunday at Montage Mountain in Scranton. The jam titans headlining set on the Peach Stage saw them welcome a longtime friend for a pair of tunes during a 12-song performance.

Warren Haynes & Co. got the final set of The Peach Fest going with “Railroad Boy” from their 2009 release By A Thread. From there, the four-piece served up a trio of old-school material — “Rocking Horse,” “Banks Of The Deep End” and “Larger Than Life.” “The Man I Want To Be” from their most recent studio effort Revolution Come…Revolution Go followed. Saxophonist Ron Holloway emerged next as the augmented ensemble tackled Billy Cobham’s “Stratus” from the jazz fusion drummer’s 1973 release Spectrum.

Holloway would return to the stage three songs later as Mule dug in on The Allman Brothers Band classic “Mountain Jam.” Al Green’s “I’m A Ram” and Blind Willie Johnson’s “Dark Was The Night, Cold Was The Ground” brought the Peach Fest finale to a close.
