Gov’t Mule continued a lengthy summer tour on Tuesday night at Express Live! in Columbus, Ohio. Southern rockers Blackberry Smoke opened the concert and the band’s guitarist sat-in with Mule during the encore.
Warren Haynes & Co. kicked off their set with a “Railroad Boy” > “Stone Cold Rage” sequence. Last night’s Mule set went on to include a mix of original favorites such as “Banks Of The Deep End,” “Sarah Surrender” and “Soulshine” with covers of tunes by The Beatles (“She Said She Said” > “Tomorrow Never Knows”), Jeff Beck (“Freeway Jam”) and Led Zeppelin (“Trampled Under Foot”).
Gov’t Mule welcomed Blackberry Smoke’s Charlie Starr to the stage for Tuesday night’s encore. The quartet and their guest played the geographically-fitting “Ohio” by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young to open the encore. Mule and Starr then said farewell with a blazing rendition of “Dreams” by the Allman Brothers Band.
