Last night Gov’t Mule and Galactic brought their Summer Tour together to Pittsburgh for a show at Stage AE. Mule’s Sunday show once again featured collaborations between the two acts as well as the live debut of a pair of songs from the band’s just-released studio album.
Frontman Warren Haynes opened the single set performance with “Railroad Boy” > “32/20 Blues.” A few songs later the band performed “The Man I Want To Be” off their new LP Revolution Come … Revolution Go in front of an audience for the first time. Takes on “Birth Of The Mule” and “World Gone Wild” came ahead of the second live debut off the new album, “Drawn That Way.”
Galactic vocalist Erica Falls, saxophonist Ben Ellman and trumpeter Shamarr Allen retook the stage for a cover of the blues standard “John The Revelator.” Later the set drew to a close with a rendition of “Blind Man In The Dark” featuring The Allman Brothers Band’s “Mountain Jam” played within. “New World Blues” with “John The Revelator” lyrics and Mule staple “Soulshine” were chosen for the night’s encore.
Gov’t Mule and Galactic perform together again tonight at Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
