Gov’t Mule Jams With Chris Tofield & Chris Vos In Las Vegas
By Scott Bernstein Mar 5, 2017 • 8:23 am PST

Gov’t Mule continued a brief early March run on Saturday night at the Las Vegas outpost of Brooklyn Bowl. The Record Company opened for Mule and the band’s frontman, Chris Vos, wound up sitting-in with Warren Haynes as did local blues guitarist Chris Tofield.
The quartet filled their first set with a number of fan-favorite originals such as “World Boss,” “Mr High & Mighty” and “Time To Confess.” Mule also served up a cover of The JB’s “Doing It To Death” and ended the opening stanza with a take on “Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody’s Home.” Chris Tofield emerged for the first set closer and engaged in a guitar duel with Warren Haynes.
Haynes & Co. kicked off the second set with “Railroad Boy” and a cover of The Beatles’ “She Said, She Said” that included a jam on “Tomorrow Never Knows.” Gov’t Mule then embarked on a “Fallen Down” complete with “The Other One” jam. Next, Warren led the group of “Kind Of Bird” before the quartet closed out the second set with covers of Humble Pie’s “30 Days In The Hole” and Ray Charles’ “I Don’t Need No Doctor.” When Mule returned for the encore they were joined by Chris Vos for “Good Morning Little Schoolgirl” and then ended the evening with both Vos and Tofield contributing to “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man.”
