Gov’t Mule Covers Van Morrison’s Tupelo Honey Within Soulshine

Gov’t Mule are currently in the middle of their 20 Years Strong Summer Tour, which came to Sloss Furnace in Birmingham, AL last night. For Tuesday night’s encore, the band worked a cover of Van Morrison’s “Tupelo Honey” into “Soulshine,” Warren Haynes’ signature song.

Warren and his band first performed the Van Morrison cover on Sunday night in Peoria, where it was played in the middle of “Soulshine” as well. We love the way Gov’t Mule has fit “Tupelo Honey” within “Soulshine,” so we’re not surprised they’ve played the medley two shows in a row and we expect more renditions over the course of the tour.
