Watch Gorillaz & De La Soul Honor David Jolicoeur At Coachella

As reported, Gorillaz orchestrated a guest-filled performance at Coachella last Friday on the first night of the festival’s first weekend. Among the guest joining the virtual group’s mastermind Damon Albarn in Indio, California were longtime collaborators De La Soul, whose appearance include a tribute to De La Soul co-founder David “Trugoy The Dove” Jolicoeur, who died in February at age 54.

The surviving members of De La Soul, Kelvin “Posdnuos” Mercer and Vincent “Maseo” Mason, joined Albarn for the penultimate song of Gorillaz’s set, “Feel Good Inc.” After the performance of the hit Demon Days song, an image of Jolicoeur was shown on the large screen embanking the stage as Maseo, Posdnuos and Albarn embraced each other.

“I love you Damon,” Mase said, adding “I love you bro” before giving Albarn a hug.
