Goose & Dave Grippo Perform ‘Time To Flee’ In Vermont: Pro-Shot Video

By Scott Bernstein Oct 5, 2020 7:27 am PDT

As reported, Goose welcomed saxophonist Dave Grippo as a special guest for the bulk of their Friday night drive-in concert at Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction, Vermont. Goose unveiled pro-shot video of the 23+ minute “Time To Flee” featuring “The Truth” on sax that opened the show.

The band took the stage without Grippo and began “Time To Flee.” Goose explored various jam spaces before the saxophonist emerged around the 14-minute mark. Dave “The Truth” Grippo was a member of the Giant Country Horns, a horn section that accompanied Phish on their Summer Tour 1991 and made a few sporadic appearances in 1994. Grippo joined Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio’s Trey Anastasio Band in 2001 and was a part of a number of TAB lineups through 2007.

Goose and Grippo focused on pretty, major-key improvisation throughout the remainder of “Time To Flee.” The lengthy version of the song concluded with a massive peak led by guitarist Rick Mitarotonda. Grippo contributed to the remainder of Goose’s concerts outside of three songs.
