After more than three years away from the stage, Aqueous will reunite for two hometown concerts this December. The Buffalo quartet will return to Town Ballroom on December 4 and 5 for its first public performances since August 2023.

Aqueous’ lineup will look a bit different from the last time the band took the stage at their Great Flamingle II festival. Former drummer Ryan Nogle has returned to the band he departed over a decade ago to perform with guitarist Mike Gantzer, multi-instrumentalist Dave Loss and bassist Evan McPhaden. Nogle steps in for Rob Houk, who was behind the kit for Aqueous from 2016 through 2023.

The members of the band left the door open for a reunion when they announced the indefinite hiatus in June of 2023. Loss wrote a note to fans at that time explaining how the birth of his son changed his priorities. “I want to be there for as much as I can and I don’t want to miss a thing,” Loss noted. “That being said, touring and being away from my family is just not something I can do right now.”

“I have decided that it is time for me to step away from the band to be home with my family,” the keyboardist and guitarist wrote. “Although it was a very difficult decision, I know it is the right one for me. There will still be some music for me to play going forward, but the full-time touring musician gig is just not one that fits my life at the moment.”

Mike Gantzer has kept busiest of the AQ members over the past three years, performing with his Death Kings trio, Andy Frasco & The U.N. and various other projects. Nogle followed his time in Aqueous by touring and recording with Funktional Flow.

Tickets for both Aqueous reunion shows go on sale Friday, August 21 at 10 a.m. ET.
