Goose concluded a two-night run of drive-in concerts on Saturday with a performance at Cheshire Fairgrounds in Swanzey, New Hampshire. Last night’s show included Goose’s debut cover of “Look Out Cleveland” by The Band.
The group consisting of guitarist Rick Mitarotonda, multi-instrumentalist Peter Anspach, bassist Trevor Weekz, drummer Ben Atkind and percussionist Jeff Arevalo kicked off the evening with “Yeti.” Goose then served up their first ever “Look Out Cleveland,” a song The Band originally released on their self-titled 1969 studio album. Mitarotonda and Anspach handled vocal duties on the cover before Goose embarked on a funky jam heavy on Clavinet, a new addition to Peter’s rig.

Goose explored various soundscapes throughout the “Look Out Cleveland” jam. Next up was a version of “Honey Bee” featuring longtime crew member Jon “Coach” Lombardi on rain stick. From there, the quintet paired “Jive I” and “Madhuvan” before ending the frame with the recently debuted original “726.”
Last night’s second set began with an adventurous “Tumble” that spanned nearly 20 minutes. Goose followed with a cover of Tom Waits’ “Christmas Card From A Hooker In Minneapolis” in which Rick forgot the lyrics to the bridge. An exploratory, slow and melodic “All I Need” then gave way to “Echo Of A Rose” before “Flodown” closed the second set. Mitarotonda informed the crowd the band would take a mulligan on “Christmas Card” to open the encore due to the issues he had earlier in the night. Goose said farewell with “Jive Lee” finale.
